My story
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me better. I am Leanne Wait a passionate and dedicated Pelvic Health Physiotherapist.
My journey with pelvic heath goes back a long way. I was a gymnast as a child and I remember the intense training and the impact it had on the pelvic floor, although of course I was unaware at the time.
As a teenager, my amazing mother helped me explore many careers and my primary focus never waivered – I wanted to ‘help people’ and try and ‘make a difference’. That hasn’t changed. What has changed is I am older, have experienced more life and have grown from that.
I started out as a physiotherapist working on the wards at Hastings Hospital then moved to work in private practice in Hawke’s Bay as a musculoskeletal physio. During this time, I also completed a postgraduate diploma.
When I had my first child in 2000 I realised how much I didn’t know about the impact of pregnancy and birth on the pelvic floor or what recovering from this entailed => this set me off on a journey.....
Which brings us today:
After 20+ years of pelvic health dedicated training, education, course work and learning I have become an experienced pelvic health physiotherapist with a passion for my very special focus.
I feel privileged to work with so many amazing and brave people, change lives, make a difference and fulfil my purpose – to improve the quality of many lives.
And yes, all of the people who choose to come and see me are brave. Brave, because pelvic health is not always an easy journey… But I’m here to help.
Facts about me:
I grew up in Wellington.
I have lived in Hawke's Bay since I graduated as a physio.

I have been called a ‘vagician’, 'pelvic pro' and ‘fanny physio’ 😍
I am passionate about educating, empowering and also preventing pelvic health issues.
My purpose is to improve your quality of life – I’m here to help
